This Christmas, Call Yonie’s Harness Shop for A Custom-Made Harness!

December 2016

Not sure what to pick up this holiday season? How about giving the gift of craftsmanship. Yonie’s Harness Shop is a family-owned business in the rolling hills of Eastern Lancaster County in Honey Brook, PA. Yonie’s manufactures synthetic harness and tack products for the Amish and Mennonite communities as well as for harness racing and pleasure/Combined Driving communities throughout the world.

Yonie’s was established in 1992 by Jonathan (Yonie in Pennsylvania Dutch) Stoltzfus, who began sewing for his family of nine siblings at age twelve and who moved on to making harness as a hobby. He added his first employee in 1995. His business grew by word of mouth from individuals who used and appreciated his products, and Yonie’s Harness Shop became known for quality workmanship and identifying or leading industry trends.

Yonie’s manufacturing shop is independent of the electrical grid – they create all the power they use. In addition, the majority of team members live near the shop so they walk or scoot to work. Those that live farther from the shop carpool with a driver. It is a place where craftsmen can work at their trade and still watch their neighbors as they work in the fields, planting, cultivating and finally harvesting the crops of corn and hay, seeing the beauty of nature and drawing inspiration for their work.

Yonie’s has grown from a home-based necessity to a worldwide business in 22 years. They now have six employees and four home-based sub-contractors who in turn have employees and/or independent contractors. They can design, manufacture and produce whatever you (or your special someone!) may desire. Put a big bow on a Yonie’s harness this year and watch faces alight with gratitude.
