Experience Summer Camp at Alfred U

April 2016

Alfred University is offering a five-day English riding summer camp in the beautiful countryside of western New York State. Riders of all levels, aged fourteen through seventeen, can experience warm days and cool nights in the peaceful surroundings of Alfred University while achieving personal riding goals.

During the week of camp, July 10-15, 2016, the Alfred University Equestrian Camp will provide expert instruction in hunt seat riding based on the gifts and needs of the campers. The spacious equestrian center with modern classrooms, viewing arenas, indoor and outdoor arenas, and scenic riding paths are ideal settings to foster exceptional horsemanship. At the end of the week, campers demonstrate the skills they’ve learned during a horse show. Campers can use Alfred University’s lesson horses or bring their own.

Campers will spend most of their time at the Equestrian Center with the horses. When not in classes or riding, campers will enjoy fun recreational activities, such as movies, games, cookouts and campfires by a nearby lake, and hayrides. Living, dining and learning together, campers have ample opportunity to get to know one another and develop lasting friendships. In order to ensure everyone has a safe, healthy and enjoyable time on campus, summer students are expected to abide by the University's summer programs rules and regulations.

Campers will stay in secure University residence halls dedicated to summer campers, two per room, and must bring their own pillows, blankets and bed and bath linens for the week. Laundry facilities are available in each hall at no charge. Males and females are housed in separate halls. Camp counselors will be on-site in the residence halls at all times.

Deadline for applications is May 1, 2016. For more information or to view the camp video, visit www.alfred.edu/summer/camps/equestrian.cfm or call (607) 871-2612.
