The years of practice and part- nerships between rider and their equine partner culminate in their performance with amazing preci- sion and style. Breed Show News But these champions have to start somewhere! Many of the young horses in the breed classes have been carefully bred, tended and watched over as they grew. Many will go on to upper level dressage competitions and compete in the famed Dixon Oval. Others will excel in other disciplines. And that’s what the Breed Show is all about. New “ponies only” classes were well-received when they were introduced last year. These classes “mirror” the breed di- vision in-hand classes and will include Colt, Filly, Foal, Mare, Stallion Championships – based on qualifier classes. “Plus, as a result of our partnership with the National Dressage Pony Cup, points earned at Dressage at Devon will count towards year end awards,” said Mela- nie Sloyer, Chair of the Breed Division. The Individual Breed Classes (IBC) will be held on Tuesday September 24. The Tuesday schedule will also include the group classes such as Breeders Group, Get of Sire, and Produce of Dam. Plus, DaD is bring- ing back the popular Parade of Breeds at the conclusion of the IBC classes in which the winners of each IBC class are invited back into the Dixon Oval to receive a special Dressage at Devon rosette. Young (sport horse pros- pects), Mature (Breeding Stock) horses, and Materiale (under saddle) classes will be held on Wednesday, September 25. These classes will be qualifiers for the Dressage at Devon Cham- pionships and the United States Dressage Federation Breeders Championships - East Coast Se- ries. Championships will be held on Thursday. The Dressage at Devon Breed Show will feature horses of many ages, from mischievous foals to five and six year olds. Many are perfect prospects for other equestrian disciplines. Keep an eye out for green dots on their bridle number. They are for sale and could be your next champion.
