Dressage at Devon 2016 will
take place from September 27
through October 2 at the Devon
Horse Show Grounds in Devon
PA. In addition to fine equine
performances and the largest
open-breed show in the world,
the show offers something for
everyone with some of the best
food in the horse show circuit
plus 90 vendors offering every-
thing from clothing and jewelry
to art and ceramics for equestri-
ans and non-equestrians alike.
Here are just a few of the
highlights of 2016.
New Breed Class
Melanie Sloyer, Chair of the
Breed Division announced that a
Materiale championship will be
held during the Finals. It will fea-
ture a 3-year-old and a 4-5-year-
old class with combined genders.
To qualify, the horse must earn
one score of 72% or better at a
licensed Dressage Sport Horse
Breeding (DSHB) or dressage
competition.
The Performance Division
The Performance Division
runs Thursday September 29 to
Sunday, October 2. Not to be
missed classes include the Mu-
sical Freestyle, Saturday night,
the Grand Prix Qualifier for the
Grand Prix Special and the Grand
Prix Freestyle on Friday night,
and, showcasing young riders, the
FEI Junior Freestyle, the Young
Rider Freestyle, the Grand Prix
Freestyle, the Grand Prix Special
and the Intermediaire Freestyle on
Sunday.
The Two-Tempi Challenge
It's going to be tough to
beat Julie Julian's 130 two tempi
changes but this year our pros
will challenge the record at
Dressage at Devon. Funds from
this event will go to The Dressage
Foundation’s (TDF) grants and
programs.

Dressage Explorers
Building on the success of
the Dressage Explorers program
last year, this year will feature
new and expanded activities for
young horse lovers throughout
the day on Sunday, October 2.
Activities include a conversation
with Dr. Joseph Wagner from
Unionville Equine Associates (the
Dressage at Devon official vet),
a scavenger hunt, and, of course,
the stick horse class. A discount-
ed price of $10 for the day for a
personal receiver allows users to
follow commentary from some of
